Editorial - Extraordinary

So here we are at the start of our second year in CCAD and to get the ball rolling so to speak we have been given the task to create some images in an editorial style.

For this I have decided to carry on a theme I have already touched on in the first year, event photography. More specifically house and techno event photography, from events I have covered for the promoters across the north east and sometimes beyond.

I have literally taken thousands of images at these events, so rather than just go through them looking for the most attractive or ones I feel are technically impressive.I see this assignment as an opportunity to investigate my work to see if there is any style developing and any reference being made from influence from any photographers I have been researching.

When I fist went into doing event photos I knew that i wanted to do it in a way that was different from all the others I had known,my aim was to bring a style of street photography and portraiture together in that environment. This is all well and good but still lacks substance in my mind if there is no social commentary evident in the final work.

So that's where the extraordinary comes into it. I am hoping that the small selection of images will convey a narrative more than that of the positive light I hope to shine on these social engagements. Extraordinary people, lighting or situations occurring in photographs usually seen as either commercial event or  in a documentary style.
