Digital Shoot Around Jacksons Landing

A pre shoot seemed the best way to be able to get a better look around the building. I know if this had been done in the days before digital photography we wouldnt have had the option so some might look at it as cheating. Im all for being a purist and keeping it real, but this is a great way to be able to shoot inexpensively with a quick turn around if things aren't looking the way you want before lugging out the large format and starting to spend £2 an image on just the negatives.

Here is the images from that recce shoot...

All have been processed to black and white in lightroom and shot with a 24mm lens on a cropped sensor d7100 at iso 400 for as close of a look to the film version as possible. Together i feel the set reaffirms my feelings that Jacksons Landing is a worthy subject for this project. The views are split into 3 separate and distinct areas. Close contact where you can almost touch it,the marinas waters edge and over the water into the car park and wastelands.
It has a look of a fallen giant, this should be an amazing building. Not in the same way as say a historical fine architecture kind as it just doesnt look attractive in that way.
It was never going to be around for hundreds of years but surely it shouldnt have been so spectacularly un successful and empty in such a short space of time. Ive read through quite a few forums where people have many different views as to what should be done with it now but my favorite is to be used as an ice rink. Some serious modifications to the structure would need to be made to expose a large enough area so columns didnt come up through the rink, this would be expensive though which is probably why its hasnt seen the light of day.
